Now you’ve got the EHCP, what can schools do next to ensure it makes a difference in practice?
Kate Browning looks at the important practical next steps needed to implement an EHCP effectively. This includes effective communication and information sharing, mapping and monitoring provision, outlining roles and responsibilities and preparing for the first annual review. This session focuses on promoting a collaborative person-centred approach which upholds high expectations.
3 takeaways from Kate’s training session
– Leave the session with a step-by-step process for implementing the educational provision as outlined on an EHCP –
– Be aware of the most common hazards that can beset the effective implementation of an EHCP and have a plan to avoid them –
– Establish roles and responsibilities for key staff –
This session is aimed particularly at SENCOs, but would be useful also for SLT, teachers and other education professionals who work with schools to implement provision outlined on an EHCP.
